Patrick can best be described as a representational, landscape, pastel artist. His paintings are executed in soft pastel over watercolor washes on sanded paper. He delights in looking for "that certain shape" in his compositions, using calming and soothing colors to convey the essence of his subject.

He is basically self-taught, the firm foundations having been laid through study at the Kalamazoo Institute of Arts. His interest in painting as a child never left him as more sophisticated art developed throughout the years. Much independent work followed, under the tutelage of well-known national artists, such as Albert Handell, PSA, Master pastelist, as well as the late Harry Hefner, Chairman of the Fine Arts Department at WMU. He was a charter member of the Kalamazoo Area Pastel Society and is an Associate Member of the Pastel Society of America.

Now retired from a long career as a Medical Technologist/Microbiologist, he is free to develop his art career full-time.
